: Back in the late 40's we had an old neighbor who pulled equipment from one little farm to another up and down the road using a peice of #9 wire. It worked OK on that little stuff but he used to wire two or three together to save trips, and couldn't understand why the front wire kept breaking. :-) Maybe he should have wired them all together and then pushed them home rather than pulled them. This really doesn't have much do with hitch pins, but is remotely related. When I was a teenager bailing hay I witnessed one of the silliest things I've ever seen. We had been bailing and for some reason a bunch of hay wagons were in the field and needed to be taken back to the farm which was about 2 miles away. One of the other teen helpers hooked about 5 wagons behind his pickup truck. Everything was fine untill he tried to drive close to the speed limit. The first wagon obeyed pretty well, the second obeyed a little less, the third a little less, the fourth not much at all, and the fifth had a mind of it's own. You should have seen it. It was like somebody snapping a whip. I never laughed so hard in all of my life. Scared the heck out of the kid driving the truck. Especially on the overpass going over I-70. In the end, everybody got home safely with no damage done.
