About 20 years ago my dad got a $4000 refund from the IRS by mistake. He wrote to them but there was no response. So dad put it in some kind of intrest earning account. Why not make a little money off of this? About six months later he got a letter from the IRS wanting the $4000 back NOW AND I MEAN NOW!! So he withdrew it and sent them a check. He probably didn't make much interest on it, and the institution he invested it in probably had to report the earnings to who else but the IRS, but he had fun with it while it lasted. Jim
