Baling corn stocks
My hay crop failed this year and I was going to bale some corn stocks that have a lot of volunteer grass but the problem is I also have a little Johnson grass in the mix.
We have had a frost but not a killing frost and I know Johnson grass needs to set for a few days before it can be baled or grazed but I cant find a good answer for the number of days hay with Johnson grass needs to set/dry.
Does any one know?
I’ve read 4 day up to 14 days are needed before hay with Johnson grass or sorghum can be baled.
At one time I remember reading an alert from the University of Illinois on the subject but I can’t find the report anymore on the web.
