one other thing ,theres no such thing actually as "DAMASCUS TWIST"..damascus barrels were made by taking a fine wire, beating it flat over a mandral and soldering it together to make a tube. twist barrels were made by taking a flat piece of stock spiraling it up the mandral and soldering the joint. if your barrels say anything "twist" thats the way its made. these were the weakest of barrels and the ones most likely to fail.the problem was not the steel, but the solder between the joints was weak, real damascus barrels were made up of many layers overlapping so the solder joints are much stronger than twist.the difference in a twist barrel and true damascus is daylight and dark. if you pick up a shotgun and you see a spiral going up the barrels, its a twist barrel, regardless of how its marked. true damascus wont show a spiral, and in fact its very hard to see the joints on a good damascus barrel. everyone liked to mark their barrels damascus, simply because it was a mark of quality. It was not the mark of a lesser grade in any way,but the mark of the best.
