Now you can have peace of mind. The $135 might be cheap compared to the alternative. Come to think of it, our upstairs heating stove was doing that until the pilot just plain refused to stay lit. After I replaced the jet it didn't seem to flare as bad when it lit up. Our local hardware store sells a reamer for cleaning pilot jets and I've used one a few times, but it seems like I get too agressive and the holes end up bigger, which means more flame, which means the thermocouple burns out before it's time. It's best to just replace the jet and get it over with. Jim
