We have cats and have a pet door from outside into garage and another into house via laundry/mud room. All was well until the coons figured it out. We've trapped six coons in the laundry room and SWMBO has informed me that she has new coons coming in (I'm working in the West Indies). So far the skunks and possums haven't used the pet doors, but neighbor's cat has. Anyway, I don't think it would be a good idea to have a pet on a cable going through pet door. Too much chance on the cable getting tangled up. As 504 says below, for a dog maybe one with the electronic collar opener would work good for you.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
