Take the floor pan off and remove the transmission top cover. Look and see what it not engaging all of the way.
Also did you adjust the shift rods after you put it back together??? If not then it may just not be shifting into the high range all of the way and it is grinding. I would adjust the shift rods first. Then remove the top to see what is going on.
The synchronizer can not be grinding. It is the shift collar and shifting drum grinding because they are not shifted all of the way together.
You could have got drum #27 and drum #34 interchanged. They will go together wrong and then not shift correctly.
Also the shifter can be worn where they run on the drum and not be shifting the drum in far enough.
