There were several years in there, if I remember right early to mid 90's, that it wasn't uncommon for the Chrysler mini van tranny to suffer catastrophic tranny failures around 80K. I replaced enough of them while working as a mechanic. They did fix that problem but it took years not months. The early Intrepid tranny were a nightmare too. Failure was common just over 100K. On those the tranny was rebuildable but only one place nation wide would do that. Where I worked at the time we would rebuild some auto trannies if it was cost effective for the customer. On those it wasn't and the only rebuilder nation wide was MOPAR. Reason being was that there were up to 28 changes to the tranny in one production year and the tranny had to be matched to the car via the VIN.
You are correct, drive any car or truck long enough you are going to replace parts in the front end. The Caravan is very popular because they were very innovative with built in child seats, seat storage under the floor....
