The variety keeps it interesting. It appears like minded or people with similar interests like to participate, engage in conversation, be it technical, casual or specific.

There is a certain "etiquette" asked of all who participate, which is politely stated by the moderator. The way I see it if a person can't abide by what is asked of you while participating, it shows weakness and lack of discipline, and please don't anyone be foolishly insulted by that statement, the point is clear, show a little control or discipline, things like politics, religion, always start trouble, sure things like that can be discussed in a civil manner, but some just can't resist the temptation and go over the line, same with whatever else may come up. We do have the option to skip over things, very easily, its comical that a person would waste their time to complain, but suggestions respectfully stated, with a reasonable point, are likely not to be ignored.

I can understand a person feeling that the label on the forum has this meaning or that, and should be narrowed to a congruent criteria to the title of the forum, however without the variety, maybe it becomes boring. I suppose you could try to steer the content a certain way, but maybe that becomes dysfunctional. This forum works fine as is, every one here may see some posts as clutter, but every person is different, so why not glide over those things, and pursue the posts that do interest you. Seems everyone loves photos here, almost regardless of subject matter.

Sometimes I see a bunch of posts that don't interest me, whether I partially read them or in whole or skip over them completely, does not instigate me to say well umm mr/mrs. moderator, "I" think it should be this way or that, who really cares, what difference does it make ??? For the brief time spent on the sight, don't most other things to do besides stare at their monitor and stew over the forum content ? Moderators do as they see fit to patrol, "their" site, I see no reason to disrespect that or worry about what is contained within this or any other forum, by a participant, who may take a harder stance on it and complain, waste of time.

You ask or initiate a conversation, you'll likely get friendly, polite responses, by those interested, polite "chatter" if you will.

Ask a technical question, people come out in droves to help or participate, opinions are given, advice stated etc. People like to use their intelligence here, great to see those of all kinds of backgrounds speak clearly about what they know, some may bicker a bit, but most show discipline and not get carried away, some do, you can't please everyone. Seems the darned thing works pretty good here and has for many years.

The thing I don't like is when a long time poster or someone familiar gets frustrated and you don't see them as often or at all, also seems its the same people that NEVER get involved with any of the politics, or engage threads that get deleted.

Enjoy the forum for what it is, skip over what does not interest you, and abide by the etiquette asked of you, pretty easy if you ask me ? Get upset over a forum .....LOL !!!!!

Today's Featured Article - Talk of the Town: Winterizing Engines - To Drain or Not to Drain? - by Russ Berry. What is this strange attraction I have to equipment and machinery? How did I get this way? I came from the suburbs and own a small horse farm in rural Loudoun County, Virginia. You can call me a "weekend farmer." The local farmers do. Does it bother me? No. I am just happy to have their friendship. At least the word "farmer" is in my title. But what is the attraction? How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most ... [Read Article]
