As a rule of thumb, the only problems in the world are the ones we have personally. But for whatever it's worth, we're all in this one together. Even many of the big farmers won't get the hybrid numbers they want in the volume they want. They're just not there in quantities everyone demands this year. Depending on how things go in South America this year, some of the shortages might be mitigated to a point. There's gonna be a lot of "take what you can get" come spring time. It's already getting that way now. I pre-paid in late Oct for most of my seed. Even with that, I was told there would likely be some adjustment on the numbers I requested once shipping starts. I'm by no means a big buyer, but I have dealt with same 2 seed dealers (and 3 brands) for near 25 years.
A close friend is what most would describe as a BTO. He's told me much the same thing. Gonna be a lot of give and take as far as getting exactly what we want. Another year of drought or other weather problems and the issue will get far worse. Seed companies dealt with the same miserable weather as the rest of us.
