That's why teachers should not be armed. All it takes is a second or two.....besides thier job when something like this happens is to get the kids someplace safe and try to keep them calm. Not go running down the hall looking for a gun fight. I do believe that there needs to be armed security in the schools. 1st, once eveyone is aware that a school is no longer a safe place to attack most will seek another target. 2nd everyone know where the teachers are 15 min after the hour, in the class room. Security needs to be flexable and not tied to a group of children.
No need to call names. Sometimes some people need some imput to see things in a different light. Here is another thought on this. Little Johny's parent don't like guns and tells him they are evil and only bad people have them. He starts preschool and sees his teacher haas a gun......Johny isn't going to want to go to school ever again. Or Johny and Joe get in a fight and while the teacher is breaking it up drops a gun or leaves it unattended in a desck draw? Not good. Teachers have enough distractions in the classroom without have to safe guard a gun.
