Years ago when I was in school the world was a different place. During hunting season, like it is now, most pickup trucks had a rifle to 2 behind the seat. This was the students, principal and a few teachers. The guns were not spoken about and they never left the vehicles so there were never any problems.
I know if this had happened while I was in school several of us, principal, teachers and myself, would have probably died getting to our vehicles to get our guns to put this person down.
It may of not have helped anything I don't know, but knowing the students and teachers had vehicles with rifles and shotguns in them may have kept people like this out of schools back then.
The high school was right next to the elementary school.
We also had prayer every morning and recited the Pledge of Allegiance all 12 years. This may or may not help but I do know it never hurt anything.
