Greg you don't know what your talking about! Stealing from you is one thing attacking with intent to harm is another.
Here a story from Virginia--this summer a crazed individual (young man 6'+ and about 250 lb) on the way home from work, doing drugs with friends, was let out of the car about 1500 hours out of his mind. One of the other occupants chased him around a field till he was aimed at a house then they drove off to a local millpond to wait. Young man approachs the house's front door which had a large window in a manner that provoked the homeowner (an older retired gentleman), he picked up his shotgun pointed it at and told him he would die. Young man goes off to the next house (wife calls shrieff and the neighbor). Before the neighbor (retired, mid 70's, excutive at the local power company) can react young man crashes into the solid front door and get one leg inside and is working on breaking it down while not saying anything. Old man grabs his 16 gauge shotgun, his wife is screaming at the young man to leave, that he will be shot and he is. As the older man reported there was no time to think just swing around and pull the trigger (from years of handling the gun he had it point down) and shoot the young man in the leg.
The young man scrambled out into the yard breaking down the wrought iron railing and bricks out of the bricks stairs just as the Chief of Police pulls up. Chief looks at the young man tells the old guy to go inot the house and that the medics will care for the young man with a hole in his femoral artery. It took 3 deputies and 2 medics to get him strapped to the board so they could stop the bleeding--he almost bled out.
The young man did not loose his leg and is now in a mental institution unable to stand trial.
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?

Today's Featured Article - Good As New - by Bill Goodwin. In the summer of 1995, my father, Russ Goodwin, and I acquired the 1945 Farmall B that my grandfather used as an overseer on a farm in Waynesboro, Georgia. After my grandfather’s death in 1955, J.P. Rollins, son of the landowner, used the tractor. In the winter 1985, while in his possession the engine block cracked and was unrepairable. He had told my father ... [Read Article]
