Windows XP worked pretty good. My first introduction to computers was with XP. Next upgrade took me to Windows Vista. There was a bit of a learning curve involved, but after I learned that most of the Vista features could be customized to behave more like the old XP, I got along just fine, and I am still using Vista. No experience with Windows 7 or 8, but judging from the reviews I have read about Windows 8, NO one likes it, and MOST who have it wish they didn't. If I am forced to buy a new computer, I will request a custom build using the old XP.
