We have two computers at home. One is a home-built with Windows 7 and the other (the one I'm posting from) is using Ubuntu. I need a Windows machine (unfortunately) for my wife's work and occasionally for the kid's homework. But the Ubuntu is running on a 10 year old Compaq POS that was a WalMart cheapie 10 years ago. I maxed the RAM on it, installed AdBlockPro and it still screams. The operating system was free and the updates are free. I've pulled off several viruses from Windows 7, but this just keeps putting along. You pay good money for an OS, you never legally own it and then they pull the rug out from under you. That's hard to believe and if your car worked the same way, people would be screaming.
