I remember talking with a doctor a while back about infections. We were talking about how much people take their skin for granted. And how common it is for people to get extremely dangerous infections, but most people really don't give a scratch or a cut two seconds of thought.
I certainly don't.
But according to him, ANY time your skin is broken, even just the slightest amount - it can happen. We're surrounded by flesh eating bacterias and other nasties just waiting to get in.
But of course - even hearing it from a doctor wasn't enough for me. I still don't think much about it when I get a cut.
Maybe we should all learn from your son's experience and be sure to wash and disinfect even "harmless" scratches like that.
