"Better examples", or just the only examples you know that fit your pre-determined opinion of a "BTO". The first being the case, maybe you should start to associate with a better level of farmers. Later being the case, you want to lump EVERYONE into one group because you don't like a select few individuals.
I'm almost 66 years old now. Been involved in farming since I was a kid. I've known a number of big farmers. Known a lot of small farmers. In all my encounters with people involved in farming, I've actually met a LOWER percentage of guys who made it big that engaged in questionable, immoral, unethical, or illegal practices than those who did so that were what we'd call small farmers. But even with that, I won't lump ANY group together and qualify them as unethical as a whole.
I've met a few VERY dishonest folks who worked for farm equipment dealerships....That said, would it be fair to say they're ALL crooks? How would you feel if I called EVERY dealer tech a thief or a swindler because of a few isolated instances? Does that make YOU an unethical person based on a few hand picked examples?
Many people would say running a farm (or ANY business) at a small percentage of it's capability just because it's "easier", or because you don't want to spend every waking moment of your life building and developing a bigger or better business is lazy and in some ways immoral. So would it be fair to say every smaller farmer is immoral or lazy? Nope...Not fair, to right, and most of all, not very a intelligent opinion.
Putting people in stereotypical categories based on biased opinion is just plain WRONG. And begrudging someone because of their success, even if their success wasn't achieved in the same manner as your idea of success is just as wrong.
If a person DOES involve themselves in unethical business practices, then that speaks for them as an individual, but not as a broad strokes statement of anyone and everyone who is at their same level in that business field.
Limiting your thinking to a predetermined stereotype is simply being close minded and in doing so, unethical to a degree on it's own.

It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
