I bought a couple of items from Harbor Freight yesterday made in China. Price was right. Had they been made in the good ole USA I would not have made the purchase as the price would have been above what I had to pay. Yes the quality would have been there, but from my perspective it is functionality/usage vs price. I am a retired farmer and my stuff gets used seldom and wearout is out of the question.
Read today that Mexico is 4th in the world for mfgring and wages used to be way over the orient, but lately, they are only 3-4x over the orient. So, with shipping over the border being cheap, they have a good competetive market for their products up here as are Canadian products that have been influxing here for decades.
What we need to do as a nation is realize that the good old days are no longer here. Our industrial revolution has come and passed. We need to learn how to make the living we think we need in the technolodgical world in which we live today....aka cross train...I.e. go back to school and learn something that is saleable in today's work environment.
Once we make our mind up to do that, we will again be leading the world in productivity and products.
