I bought my truck in Nebraska and drove it to Texas. I used a hand made "In-Transit" to get it to my parents house while in Nebraska. When I was ready to bring it down, I was able to go purchase a 30-day temporary license (same ones the dealers use). I called Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma DMV and confirmed the Texas temporary tag would be ok.
