NCWayne, I know the projects you are talking about. My son is now in the 9th grade, so it wasn"t that far back. I agree with the posters that said the kids NEED recess. Gives them a chance to unwind some of their natural energy. But, the teachers have so much wisdom they HAVE to impart to the young minds because of NO Child Left Behind, and others, that there isn"t enough time in the school day for that, much less play time. My wife is in her 34th year teaching High School Sciences and sees the result of these Fed. programs every day. Idiots being passed along to keep from having 16 yr old 6th graders, etc. Also, you can"t send them home. The parents bring them back and DEMAND that you keep them for the entire school day. That is their babysitter, so they can make it to the Govt. offices to apply for more bene"s. Sorry for the rant. But, I see it everywhere. Can"t make change cause they didn"t go to class. Can"t read simple English cause they didn"t pay attention. But they are out there and they will be voting for more FREEBEES to keep their tattooed selves in more of your tax $$$. Just my $.02.
