Mine that I remember were about feeding the hogs. Dad had this idea that it was better if he made us cut our own switch I hated that. Another thing Mom and Dad did was let you think about it for about 3 days before you got your whipping,I hated that too. My oldest brother would never cry, he said he wouldn't give Dad the satisfaction. Which seemed counter productive to me. Personally I started squalling when he said it was time. Me and my back side didn't have that much pride. My next younger brother would take off to our grand parents house and stay there till things blew over. I can see and hear him running out the back and hitting the screen door and Mom hollering out "You just wait till your Daddy gets home". He never did get a whipping over there that was sanctuary. He ended up staying over there most of his childhood. Now my Children Were completely different. MY daughter only got two spankings in Her life. My Son would get that many in an hour. In fact that is still his Sisters pet name for him "Spankin". Ron

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
