You're right, that is simpler. This way sure is more in depth, i don't like it all the time. I tried it before with a rubber flap, sometimes in the exact wrong conditions (rain, whatever) it would roll up some of the cut grass in what we called "cigars". Maybe a brush wouldn't, hmmmm. I have to mow in all conditions, and all i know is when the roller is working, it works and looks great. And it's spec'd on multiple jobs of mine. I (my guys) have to get about 175 acres/week mowed regardless of hell or high water.
