John B.: Are there any dairy farms around you??? Many of them use cotton seed for a feed ingredient. Many diaries buy them by the semi load. They are just the seeds that are removed at the cotton gins. They are unprocessed. They will grow. I have grow a few hand fulls several times over the years.
Just start a few in dish and see if they germinate. If they do them just take some of the others and plant them just about like corn in depth. You would plant them thicker.
As for any bowl weevil danger. I was told that the bowl weevil will not survive where the ground freezes.
