My guess is you'll have to finish them out and sell the meat yourself. I know a fellow locally that raises beef and sells it directly to consumers in a large metro area. He goes so far as to deliver the wrapped meat and put it in the customers freezer. He charges good money for his services, and his customers are more than willing to pay it. In his situation, as long as it is healthy beef, it doesn't seem to mater what the breed or hair color of the feeder animal was. The customer never sees the animal anyway. And I should add, he is very particular that the animal is healthy and has very good living conditions up to the moment of slaughter. I think there is money to be made in a situation like this. Just raising Jersey calves for a few months will be tough to make any money. If you want to do it for your kids to have fun with, it can't hurt to do that either.
