Spend a little more money and buy some 300-400 LBS Beef calves. They will cost more but will give you a better chance at making anything. The real light calves do not do well on straight grass/pasture. So they need to be at least that 3-4 size.
Another thing to think about is the cost of milk replacer. It is over $70 per bag and we always figured on a bag per calf. So with sweet feed and the milk replacer you will have more in that bottle calf than you think.
My first wife liked to fool with bottle calves. I kept track of the total cost several times. Just about every time you could have boughten a good 400 Lbs beef calf for what we had in the bottle calves.
Also remember that the death loss on bottle calves will run between 5-10%. At times it seems they are just waiting to die.
