I takes a lot of capital, much more than the average farmer can dream of. Where we were was Larsen Farms. They had a lot of hay on the west side of I15 a few years ago but I haven't been out there for a couple of years so things might have changed. I think I heard they sold the hay plant but I might be wrong. There was an article in a national farm magazine about their hay compressor. When the bales come out of the compressor they are tied with six or eight heavy wires so there must be a lot of tension. I never had the opportunity to see a compressed bale but I saw the wires. They also came up with a way to make the bales come apart in slices to make them easier to feed to horses. There are businesses that do custom hay tarping with fitted tarps in that area so that shows how big the hay industry is in those parts. Jim

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
