There certainly are some large mansions and estates in that area, I used to live in Basking Ridge, from Morristown, south to there, along both sides of 287 is just loaded with old estates, people never see these areas from the NJTPKE or other highways. I worked in Morristown for a site contractor, I believe is now defunct, but the owners restaurant on John St., before the county lock up, which is literally where we screened topsoil, is still there.
If you head out of Morristown from near the square, and head towards Mendham, same thing and theres a road that you can take a left on not too far outside of Morristown, that heads south to Far Hills, all along that road are massive estates, right back to where Bernardsville is, kind of back road, I used to like taking drives through these areas, after learning of them while at work, that entire area is incredible, was kind of cool to have worked on some of the job sites in that area.
