Hey 8N'r--WI, I don't think an 8 inch trailer would make much difference either, even loaded with wood. Sorry, couldn't resist. My friend has ones of these trucks and he is pretty pleased with his truck, it ain't no work truck, but a good go to town ride. I don't think the mileage is that great though, my boy has a '97 chevy half ton 4WD with a 350 V8, I checked the mileage the other day and he got 14 MPG in that dog, thats with 140,000 miles on it. The Ford engine that is giving fits right now is the Ford designed and built late model diesels, I think either 6.0 or 6.4 liter, stay far away from those.
