We fill a pitcher or two with water in case of power outage. Would get the generator ready...except we don't own one. :(
Fill a couple five gallon buckets with water so you can still flush. If the power goes out and stays out long-term, my husband will grab the Luggable Loo out of our outhouse by his shop.
We also salt the stairs and sidewalk a light layer because it helps prevent the ice from adhering quite so well.
