Larry,
Sorry for the belated reply. Just got home from a couple days at the hospital - our 18 year old son had an emergency appendectomy. He is doing great though, we got him in there before it perforated (which can be really bad news). I am exhausted.
Thanks for posting more pics. Interesting old buildings and unique configurations. I love the really long hinges on the barn doors and the old box-stall. The overhanging connection is unique too.
I remember seeing the shop pics in the past... did not connect them with your handle though. It is a neat shop.
Really neat that you have put so much work into restoring the old buildings. My husband did that here...every outbuilding on our place. He did all the work on it until our son was big enough to help with a couple. Husband did his best to maintain the look of an old fashioned building site.
Not sure if we will ever side the old barn - but he did a lot of structural work and put on a steel roof, so she will stand another hundred years (unless God decides to take her down). He straightened our old one car garage and put on a steel roof - it still needs siding. Husband and son busted out the the foundation out of the old granary (with sledge hammers - fun job), added a nice sized lean-to, new posts and sided and roofed it in steels. Sided and roofed our old hog house and added a south and a west lean too for shade...that building is now our shop.
First pic is our shop with the outhouse that he built near it. The second pic is the old granary (turned into a two car garage now). It is conjoined with the old chicken house.
Second pic is the old granary...now a double+ garage. The added lean-to is on the back side so you cannot see it, but it is deep enough to put a full sized vehicle or small tractor inside...does not have a door yet, but he framed it so a door and windows can easily be added when/if we decide to do that.
Still have a few things to do around here. In another 20 years it should all be done... then we will be pushing 70 and probably be too darn old to live here! :)
Still think you and your wife should live in PA... and just invite your Jersey friends out for weekends - the best of both worlds! Sweetfeet

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
