One of the first 7000 planters made is still operating in my neighborhood. Was new in maybe 1972? The disk opener size is important as is the alignment of the press wheels but THE most important part is the finger units, in my opinion. Like what was suggested, have the units tested at your dealer. When you're done planting, remove the finger units from the bottom of the boxes, blow them out, box them up and take them in the house or some other location that's dry all the time for storage. You're wife might not like the smell in the house, soooo! They are precision instruments and need to be treated that way if you want to continue to have a perfect picket fence stand in the future. An old 7000 can plant just as good of a stand as a new planter if it's properly taken care of. Jim
