Since you are planning to plant sweet corn with it you may have a little extra homework to do. If you can find a Deere dealer or seed dealer with a test stand it would be good to run it with the seed you will be planting to make sure the fingers will pick it up. I have planted some that I know a finger meter would have trouble with. There are two different fingers that I know of from Deere, the corn and sunflower fingers. I have no experience with sunflower fingers but the corn fingers will probably have some trouble with small seed. Running it on a stand will help you see how it does and more importantly shows you a problem before you get to the field so you can deal with it. I personally plant mine with a White 5100, I never tried the 7000 Deere when we had one. Quite honestly if you change vareities much an IH Cyclo is nice but sweet corn gets planted every year with finger pickup planters it's just a matter of getting it set up for it.

After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
