I usually run out of patience before it would work. I am usually getting paid by the hour. So I usually go to the blue wrench. Getting things apart even if you have to use new bolts is usually cheaper in the long run time wise.
Had a guy come and work on the grain leg. He did not even try the bolts on the bearings. He just cut them off and replaced them. He told me that most of the time trying to get them off just rounds out the square hole so the carriage bolts will not tighten when you go to put it back together. He replaced the top and bottom bearing in under three hours by himself. He did not even use my pillow block bearing housings. He had the bearing in used housings already. He just charges if yours are shot. He replaces the bearings at his shop when he has time. I could not have done it any faster and he had everything he needed. I would have been climbing the leg several times to get the repair done. I will stick to working on the things I know and let him do what he is good at.
