Crutches, walkers and canes are often available at yard sales, thrift stores, Goodwill Stores or flea markets for a very few dollars or less. You might want to check the Lions Club, VFW, American Legion, DAV, Local Hospitals, and local Nursing Homes. There is often a large excess of this kind of equipment.
The walker is very handy around the house, especially when you get up in the morning or the middle of the night. I would suggest that you get at least two crutches, a walker, and "enough" canes to keep two canes at your home and in each car and on each piece of equipment that you operate. Any pressure or stress that you can take off or your back may be very helpful. The foam crutch pads help. The foam padded hand grips for the walker and for the canes also help. Check to be sure that the crutch tips, cane tips, and walker have good, fresh, large, rubber NON SLIP tips. I like adjustable aluminum crutches and walkers and adjustable steel canes. GOOD adjustable wood crutches are OK also, but are heavier. See a physical therapist for instruction on the proper way to use each device. Waking with two canes (if you are able to) can be much more convenient than crutches.

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
