NAPA filters may be a major brand in different clothes. Like you buy a new widget and is has a special filter costing twice what it should. You ease the outer layer of paint off it and wala see who made it.
With that said, major US suppliers have www sites with filter specs where you can compare apples to apples.
Something to realize is that there aren't that many difference performance variations in filters. A lot of it is geometry of the case to fit a particular application.
My guess is that an auto OEM is putting out a super hot dog new car but the location causes the xyz filter to hit the whatever. Say Wix, or whomever, can you cut half inch off your xyz filter for me? Wala a new number.
