Usually you will get the bolt red but the casting around it won't get that hot unless you really lay into it. If you're worried about the casting getting too hot, let it cool down and then go at it again. The heating and cooling should help loosen the bolt. You're probably too gun shy to try another easy out and justifiably so. If you try the torch again, melt some wax into the bolt when it cools down enough to not burn the wax away, and then walk away from it till it's completely cool. The bolt might turn right out. Don't give up on it too soon. You might win the battle yet. If you do end up wrecking the threads in the hole, there's always the helicoil or something similar to get you back in the game with new threads. If you drill some more, be careful not to drill all the way through into the water jacket. If you do that you'll have leaking threads. Jim Jim
