I have cleaned lots of greasy messes with diesel oil and a parts cleaning brush. It takes some work, and is fairly messy, but it will soften and remove most grease or oil that I have tried it on. If you put a drip pan underneath, to catch what flows off, you can use part of the diesel over again after the solids drop out of suspension.
When I was a kid, we used gasoline the same way, which scares the heck out of me now. The gas never caught fire, but it could have, which could have killed me or horribly injured me.
Diesel will not flash at normal temperatures, and is a much safer solvent. Another idea is to paint used crankcase oil over a greasy part to loosen the greasy accumulation.
After you get things loosened up, a pressure washer will finish the cleanup. If you are careful with the spray pattern, lots of times the paint is not damaged. Good luck!
