Consolidation is enviable. All my life 67 yrs, we have had to contend with it. I started school in a 1 room school, Olive Branch, 16 or so of us. All 8 grades. Never really learned to read till the 3 rd grade. Then it closed and went to town school,(everybody was against it) it had 3 teachers each teaching 3 grades, except the superintendent just had 2 and he just taught 1 grade each year, so you might take the 8th before the 7th. went there 3 years. Then our farm changed districts, and I went to a bigger school that had 8 classes and teachers. Then went to 2 high Schools ended up at a giant one of 500 kids. Never moved. Where I went to school never made any difference. The teacher made the difference. I have since been on the board when we consolidated. I am sure some of my neighbors haven't forgot. If our one room school were still there there would be 2 kids in its district.
