Actually, a story in Farm Industry News magazine stated that with the almost impossible diesel emissions problems, tractor makers ARE looking hard at building tractors with gasoline, propane , Hydrogen, CNG, LNG, Ethanol engines in the near future. A story put out by Toyota last fall states that they have an Atkinson cycle gas engine ready for future hybrid projects that is 45% efficient at converting gasoline to power.( the old Toyota Atkinson cycle engine in todays Prius is 38% efficient) Thats right up there with the best agricultural diesels, using a cheaper, cleaner fuel.
