There are power settings for when its plugged in and running on battery. When its plugged in the screen will be bright and when you unplug it the screen will dim for power saver. i believe if you plug your laptop in. in the bottom right corner where the time is you should see a little power cord icon. if you right click it you will be able to change the settings to make it brighter when running on the battery alone. if you want to keep from killing the battery a little 3-400 watt inverter will keep the battery charged.
