I just spent the last few months with a Gladiator in my shop with the OHC engine. Block based on a continental 6, head slightly more advanced. I suppose they were okay for the time. The problem is that at the time they were slow and simple, now they are old, slow and obsolete. You can figure out how to make it go faster with taller tires or an overdrive. That just leaves you figuring out how to make it turn taller tires with no power stearing and how to make it stop with tiny, non power assist drums. Not a split master cyl,or even finned drums. It had to use a hydraulic clutch to accomadate frame to body movement and its about as loud as any tractor with a steel cab. They are good looking though.
