RIP Stompin Tom. It comes to all of us eventually.
Up here on the border we were pretty familiar with a lot of the Canadian talent Like Stompin Tom, Tommy Hunter, Ian and Sylvia, Gord Lightfoot, The Guess Who, Montana Slim/Wilf Carter, Percy Faith, Guy Lombardo, Oscar Peterdon, the wonderful Hank Snow, Robert Goulet and of course Don Messner. My personal favorite is a much later singer songwriter Stan Rogers. That guy was just incredible. Of course Ann Murray is well known along with Lightfoot and some others. Less well known stateside are groups like The Rankin Family. I think if they'd got some American air paly they'd have made it big 10-15 years back.
Anyway, sad to hear of another legend lost to us.
