I remember setting that heavy 4spd and transfer case, together, on the cross member, which I believe is different on an automatic. I used a floor jack, nice when you can rig over head though. I chased down every nut and bolt on this job, even some of the small parts for the clutch linkage. I stuck washers in between the clutch spring coils, and a little at a time got it stretched to hook onto whatever it is, the fun of it was finding ways to solve whatever problems came up, was relatively easy, time consuming, but did seem to work well.
When I was done, it was out of adjustment the opposite way, would not go in gear.
