Past summer we were at Crater Lake in Oregon and all the roads werent opened until 4th of July......
DO NOT MISS Crater Lake, then we headed North to Mt Rainier, then to Montanna/Wyoming DO NOT MISS Glacier Natl Park (Take the Big Antique Red Bus Tour and dont miss Many Glacier Hotel on the East side of park) and the Going to the Sun Road then take the Beartooh Scenic Highway down to Yellowstone then right into The Grand Tetons...
HOWEVER its at least June (maybe mid June) until many of the high mountain pass roads are open
We did 8 Natl Parks and those western road trips are about the finest sites Ive ever seen
Problem is Spring is almost too early for what I mentioned above due to snow butttttttt if you do the Grand Circle of 5 Natl Parks in Utah (Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, Arches) then early spring is fine cuz its too hot starting in late May (we did those parks on another western tour)
