You can tie the batteries in series and charge them on 12 volts, which is what your tractor alternator/gerator does. This would keep you from having to pull them out of the tractor to charge them.
If those batteries have been heavily discharged there is a good possiblity that one or even both of them are now bad. Charge em up and perform a load test on them to find out.
