They were driving into work and somebody had hit a nice sized buck on the other side of the highway - and it was lying on their side - rubber neckers were all slowing down the taffic.
So as they passed, they decided to pull over and throw it into the back of the pick up truck.
Off they went with enough venison to last them a season of ice fishing.
Traffic picked up speed again, and they were putting along and noticed they were getting a lot of funny looks from people who passed them.
Finally the guy driving looked into his rearview and saw the deer's face staring back at him.
It was sitting up in the bed of the truck like a dog, just looking around like he didn't have a care in the world.
They got off the highway and stopped at a police station to see if somebody could shoot it for them.
The woman dispatcher freaked out and told them they couldn't transport a live deer - and also that there was nobody who could shoot an animal...
They told her they'd just dump it in her parking lot if they can't transport it...
She finally sent them to the highway department.
They got there and that woman freaked out even more - she told them they only pick up DEAD animals, they don't KILL them - get it the )#*($ out of here!
deer still sitting up all this time. Just staring calmly at them as the got in and out of the truck at each stop.
Neither guy owns a gun - but one is a bow hunter -they were going to go to his house and shoot arrows into it - but hesitated at the thought of chasing the thing down main street if it ran, bleeding with a bunch of arrows sticking out of it...
So they decided to bring it out to MY house so I could shoot it for them - but fortunately (my wife would have killed all of us) my neighbor happened to be outside as they passed. They knew he was a hunter so they stopped in there.
He got a gun, and was coming out with it when all of a sudden the deer just popped up on all 4 hopped out of the truck - jumped over a tractor - and was off into the woods.
The guy took a shot, but apparently missed.
no idea if he survived, that was the last anybody saw of him.

It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
