: YES I'M GREEN TO THIS TRACTOR STUFF ... I HAVE TWO ACRES I'LL BE WORKING, MOWING, TILLING, MOVING SOIL-COMPOST ETC. I'M WONDERING IF A 8-N OR SIMILAR TRACTOR WITH A LOADER & IMPLIMENTS WILL WORK FOR ME (I DON'T WANT TO BE WORKING ON THE TRACTOR AS MUCH AS I'M IN THE FIELD) OR SHOULD I LOOK FOR A NEWER 4WD TRACTOR? ANY OPINIONS? I'm with Gary Mac...go with a newer utility tractor. Live PTO, power steering and full hydraulics a gifts directly from God, in my opinion. I have a 1938 F14 that is a lot of fun to tinker with, and (when finished) will look neat in parades, but I'd hate like stink to actually farm with it. I get all my real work done with a 4wd diesel utility. Even if bucks are a problem, I'd still look for a used one. 4wd (or more correctly, Manual Front Wheel Assist) helps a small tractor do big jobs and is worth the money in my opinion. A bucket loader is absolutely the most versatile attachment you can buy. Brand is relatively unimportant (I can hear the various brand-fans gnashing thier teeth!). I like the green ones, but a Kubota, Yanmar, or Ford might give you more bang for your buck. Shop around. Good Luck!
