We have a Nook Color and a Samsung Galaxy Tab (w/3G connection through Verizon). The wife likes the Nook since it's more tablet-like than the plain readers but not too complicated. I like the Tab since it is a tablet and small enough to carry around and a decent reader. We aren't big readers since that's what we do for our work, so outside of there we do other things. MIL has the Nook Simple Touch and likes it. I do like the screen on it for reading. I'd advise you try out the readers and a tablet and get what you like. I know Amazon makes it real easy to spend money on their site, B&N isn't too far behind them. I do like the new Nook HD+ too, looked at it at the local Target. If I was to update my tablet I'd be seriously looking that way too.
