2.72s in a Ford 8.8 rear end is common. Most of the 1991 and newer Crown Vics and Grand Marquis have them to help out with mileage. I don't think they'd work to well in a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick. The engine would be lugging hard all the time just trying to maintain the speed limit. I think in OD the engine is only turning 1850 RPM at 65 mph. May not be to bad in a pickup with no OD.
