Had off today. So the wife and I took a history ride. the first stop was Fort Frederick in MD just west of Hagerstown. A stone fort built during the French and Indian war in 1756. Only used till 1759. Used again during the civil war only a quarter mile from the Potomac river. The c & o canal, the towpath, now a walking trail and two railroads. One In MD one in WV. The most interesting stop was in Old Town MD We crossed the Potomac on a low water toll bridge. The water was a foot below the deck. There were no sides. The toll collector held out a tin cup with a long handle you put your money in. Then they made change, put it back out and dumped the change in your hand. Check it out. Old Town MD low water bridge. Google or You Tube. Kinda neat. Enjoy !
